Victoria Crescent Road, Glasgow

This landmark building, the former Notre Dame Primary school, located in the prestigious Dowanhill area of Glasgow, was built circa 1905.  

It is a magnificent category B listed building, squared and snecked bull–faced of red sandstone with ashlar dressing.  

We worked with Glasgow City Council to obtain planning consent and, over a period of 24 months, the building was entirely reconstructed internally and converted into 24 1,2 and 3 bedroom contemporary apartments crowned by the addition of a glass-walled penthouse apartment. 

The total modernisation of the building required finding space for a lift, replacing 129 windows with traditional hardwood sash windows, installing layers of soundproofing and reconfiguring the entire building while retaining the vast ceiling heights, large airy spaces and the fantastic natural light that the school building originally offered.
